The height of the flood waters reached around 15 feet in some areas, damaging the intake reservoir, water pumps and pipes. This left Puebloans without a drinkable water supply. In the days following, CF&I distributed water from its artesian well on wagons throughout the city. The Company's water main from its reservoirs was tied into the city's and provided the citizens with water that they could boil for drinking.
